Does your child show characteristics of Autism Spectrum? Do you seek an evaluation but the waiting list is so long to be seen and your family doctor doesn’t conduct assessments?
If so, this screening process could be a helpful start. Many families find the information provided in these screenings to be so beneficial that their family doctor uses the screening results—and considers the medical history—to make a medical diagnosis. *Please check with your doctor first if this is your goal.
There is no medical autism test, like a blood test, to diagnose autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Instead, experienced medical professionals examine a person’s developmental history and behavior, interview and observe the person and their loved ones, and use professional screening and diagnostic tools to make a diagnosis.
Autism Screenings Include:
● In Depth Social-Developmental History with consideration of current as well as historical
characteristics. (1.5 hrs)
● Direct Observations (online or in person) (1-2 hrs)
● Interviews Parent(s) and child (and teacher if possible) (2-3 hrs)
● Professional diagnostic impressions linked with the DSM V
● Professional Recommendations for parents and teachers
*Please note that a positive result on a screening tool is NOT a diagnosis.
